Marelle audio
Marelle audio
is a multipurpose recording and mixing room located in the Lavaux region along lake Geneva.
Room
Marelle audio is a one room recording and mixing space, that enjoys abundant daylight and picturesque views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding mountains.
Designed as a hybrid recording and listening room, the acoustic design focuses on the thoughtful distribution of absorptive and reflective surfaces, resulting in a tight and balanced sound with a short and elegant reverb that enhances the sound of acoustic instruments.
With its 50m2 of floor space and a ceiling height of over 4 metres, the studio is ideally sized for live tracking of small ensembles and can accommodate between 6 and 8 musicians playing simultaneously.
Approach
Great respect has been shown to the building’s original architecture. Committed to maintaining a sense of spaciousness while conserving as much daylight as possible, the decision to use a single open room was obvious.
The main advantage is that musicians can set up as they would when playing live, maintaining a direct contact with each other and with the engineer. Furthermore, as the monitoring system is in the same room, the musicians can instantly hear what they have recorded, enabling them to make quick decisions and maintain their focus on the music.
Monitoring system and equipment
The monitoring system and all of the outboard gear, console, amps and synths have been thoroughly calibrated by Pascal Ruty from Studio Consulting and restored to factory specs.
The mains power line has been adequately oversized in order to provide minimum electrical impedance, enabling the equipment to perform at its best and ensuring an optimal listening experience.
